LIR Training Course Outline
Target Audience
The target audience of the training courses is the staff of Local Internet
Registries (LIRs) in the RIPE NCC service region. The goal is to help
you understand your part in the process of IP resources distribution.
It is important that the LIRs get informed and remain up-to-date with
the policies and procedures.
Registration
Two persons per LIR can register per training course.
Additional persons from an LIR may register if there are available places
left. The costs of this course are covered by the LIR's membership fee.
Since we will be handing out confidential information to attendees about
their own LIR, only LIR contact persons can register themselves for a
training course. LIR contact persons can also register other colleagues.
The course includes lunch and printed training materials. Travel expenses
and accommodation during the training course are not included.
More details on the training course policies are available in the RIPE
NCC Local IR Training Policies document.
All LIR Training Courses are conducted in the English language.
We ask everyone to be present at 09:00 for coffee. The course starts
at 09:30 and finishes at 17:00.
For this course, we require you to be familiar with the RIPE Database
and are able to create, change and delete objects. To check or refresh
your knowledge, we invite you to take the following submodules:
These submodules are part of the module: Creating and Updating Basic Database Objects.
Material Structure
The course is based on examples, demonstrations, practical exercises
and a presentation of slides. Printouts of slides are handed out together
with extra materials and examples. The LIR handbook, also handed out at
the course, provides in-depth, easy to read background information on
the topics covered. It contains many detailed explanations and references
to the relevant documents and web pages.
You can download all the material from: http://www.ripe.net/training/lir/material/
What this course will not teach you:
This course will not teach Local Registries how to run
their businesses as Internet Service Providers (ISPs). It is clearly focused
on registration procedures and the interaction between the RIPE NCC and
LIRs.
